San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is moving towards adopting its Regional Plan (RP) that will affect San Diego through 2050 and beyond. Currently, transportation is responsible for 41% of greenhouse gas emissions in the San Diego County region due to a long over-reliance on private vehicles and roads. With climate impacts worsening – including droughts, fires, and rising sea levels – we cannot wait to enact the bold changes we need to reduce emissions.
We applaud SANDAG for advancing this plan, which is the boldest that SANDAG has proposed in decades because it takes the first step in pivoting the region away from a car-centric future to one that prioritizes transit and active transportation. However, SANDAG must take further steps to reduce emissions and support transit equity, including adopting the San Diego Transportation Equity Working Group’s 10 transit lifelines.
Join us at the next SANDAG board meeting to speak up for better public transit! Once you sign up, we will contact you with more information. It's easier than you think and really makes a difference!
