Call to Action! The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Transportation Committee is meeting on Friday, September 16, to vote on a proposal from Caltrans that would perpetuate environmental injustice and racism and would move California further from, not closer to, meeting its greenhouse emissions goals. Public comments are needed to speak up on behalf of people and planet.
Caltrans is seeking state funds to convert shoulder lanes to managed traffic lanes on the I-805/CA-15 connector, which borders City Heights. This would lead to increased traffic, pollution, and noise in a community of environmental concern as identified by CalEnviroScreen. SanDiego350 is a coalition partner in the San Diego Transportation Equity Working Group, which is advocating that the shoulder lanes be converted to transit-only lanes instead.
Use this toolkit to prepare your comment, which can be submitted online in advance or in-person or on the phone during the meeting. Online comments must be submitted no later than noon on Wednesday, September 14.
