Please join the San Diego Diplomacy Council for our first online Global Social Hour on Saturday, October 10th at 10:00am, highlighting the importance of social movements to create lasting changes in our world. This virtual forum will be an opportunity for subject-matter experts from Bangladesh, Brazil, Ghana, Guatemala, Italy, Macedonia, Pakistan, Sweden and Tajikistan, local professionals and community members to interact directly and discuss the catalysts and impact of these movements. The program will include a presentation by our international speakers who are alumni of the U.S Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program followed by facilitated conversations in breakout rooms.
Over the past several years, our world has witnessed a surge in social activism. Whether it be protests in Belarus, the Youth Climate Movement, #MeToo, or Black Lives Matter, people across the globe are demanding change and action. Social ideas such as democracy and human rights continue to inspire and galvanize nations and communities around the world. Social movements are flourishing – all despite the ongoing pandemic.
